Why Create This Site?
Call me a disgruntled Ebay seller AND buyer. Their decision to hike selling costs, and make it so that sellers can only leave positive feedback signifies to me that Ebay is going down the drain. It's time for people to find other options out there.
It's time consuming to look up the product you're interested in on all the auction sites -- hopefully this site will reduce some of that time for you, as well as introduce to you some of the other buying/selling options available to you.
So why do you still list Ebay?
I may not like them very much, but I'm a realist. This site IS called AuctionSearchSite.com, not AuctionSiteSearchEveryoneButEbay.com. As long as they're still the biggest player in town, people are still going to want to search them, and I'd be shooting myself in the foot if I didn't include them.
Why do some sites open in a new window, and some results show on the site?
I'm trying to broker relationships with all the various sites so that their results will show on this site, so you don't have to deal with annoying popups. Wouldn't it be nice to just have all the results on one page so you could compare them all at once? But some sites have flat out ignored me, some have told me they'll get back to me, yada, yada, yada...Give it some time, and hopefully I'll be able to get most of them to give me permission.
If for some reasons the popup windows are not appearing for you, make sure that you allow popups for this site. And uninstall the Yahoo toolbar, for pete's sake. It's the work of the devil.
This is obviously a site in progress. I'm totally open to
suggestions and comments on how it can be improved, so please share them on the comment form, or in the forum.
